2001 Scholarship Award

MISS AUBREY FARROW
The recipient for the USS MAHAN SCHOLARSHIP for the next school year is Miss Aubrey Farrow, granddaughter of Frank and Jackie Carr. Frank was a Pharmacist mate on the DD 364 and had served his country courageously as did many others during WW II days. Now, the Navy League is helping his and Jackie’s granddaughter go to college.
Aubrey has done very well in high school, graduated fifth in her class with an academic average of 4.0, she was also a member of the marching band and a section leader of the concert band, as well as a volunteer worker at a medical clinic.
Aubrey starts college this fall and her example should inspire all of our youngsters who have a career Navy parent who is now on the DDG-72, or it could be a grandparent or a great-grandparent from one of the other MAHAN's, the DD-364, the DLG-11 or the DDG-42.
Congratulations to you, Aubrey and to your parents and also to your grandparents, Frank and Jackie Carr.
